Dipping our toes: The Intracoastal Waterway

Hey what a great story! Thanks for for writing up your trip Judy, it was really nice to read about your sailing adventure. I like the new skin on your site to - very litereary and captures the sailing spirit as well. -tf

Thanks, tf, glad you like the new skin, I do too! I'm all for proper attribution: that was Warren. Good taste, eh?

In the same spirit of "Credit where credit is due," our trip account was a collaboration. I was asked--by our Carolinas Fleet honcho--to do a write-up for the Cape Dory owners newsletter. . .with just a three-day deadline. Usually I like to write, then let it incubate a while, then revise/tighten-up. However, I did the first half, ran out of steam, and yelled, "Help!" Warren bombed in and helped blast out the second half (you know, where everything sort of speeds up :-) )

We collaborated by way of Google Documents, which lets you share and write/revise a document online in real-time. I love it! Greatest thing since sliced bread--maybe even since the invention of the wheel!

Yeah, there is a lot of very cool stuff Google is making available online. I think its going to change how we think of computing. Right now when we say computer we generally think desktop (my workstation) but this changing soon it will be (as it is with google and amazon) an application server we login and do stuff with. Sort of amazing - but also sort of scarey - where's all my data? who owns it? how can I save it or make it secure? Anyway its all very exciting. Part of the shrinking (online) world. Did you ever check out Second Life?
