TLC
So now we've had our head-over-heels preliminary fling, sailing and sailing and sailing. . .and, after 2-1/2 + years, it's time to call a halt and be practical, to stop and give Miz Morveren the TLC she deserves.
We hauled her on St. Paddy's day (resisting the temptation to celebrate the occasion with green beer). Then she was 'on the hard' for a little over a month before we hauled her to my (Judy's) house. That was exceedingly interesting!. A trailer came with her purchase. HOWEVER. . .it has no NC registration, the tires are checked/downright rotted, and the brakes? Well, there are non-functioning brake-remnants, let's leave it at that. We rented the biggest truck we could find--with the best brakes--and, thank goodness, everything went smoothly for the 2 hour drive from the coast to my house. . .although we both cringed every time we went over a bump--or any noise a-TALL sounded!. Now she's hunkered in my driveway, almost as long as my little house.
So far, we've pulled out, lubricated, and re-installed all the seacocks; repaired the previously (badly) repaired rudder; and identified a gazillion future projects to address while she's stationary. The rudder and seacocks are the first step. Next step would be dealing with the teak, general cosmetic stuff. Oh, and Warren is all about checking the wiring (which is just inSANE!). After that . . .who knows?
